DRN hosted a discussion among auto recall experts about how the effective and creative use of data and communication can improve recall completion rates.

25-40% of auto recalls are never completed

This can have a significant impact on driver safety, so the industry is exploring new, innovative ways to find vehicles and owners, make quick and effective contact, and convince owners to make needed repairs. Manufacturers are finding that use of license plate recognition (LPR) data and the insights added by DRN’s analytics – as part of an integrated data process – can greatly increase the accuracy, speed and effectiveness with which vehicle owners can be contacted.
The industry also is working to solve other recall challenges including lack of trust, urgency and convenience vehicles owners experience when contacted regarding a vehicle recall. The common thread to solving these issues? Using data to better understand vehicle owners.
